Sultan + Shepard is a Canadian electronic music duo formed in 2002, consisting of Ossama Al Sarraf (Sultan) and Ned Shepard. With a career spanning over two decades, this talented pair has solidified themselves as one of the most notable artists in the electronic dance music scene.
Ossama Al Sarraf (Sultan) and Ned Shepard quickly discovered a natural musical chemistry after a chance meeting in Montreal’s mid-2000’s after-hours club scene, forming Sultan + Shepard in 2002. They soon began collaborating on original songs, remixes, and song-writing, signing their first song to John Digweed’s Bedrock label and officially forming Sultan + Shepard in 2010. Through the following 10 years, the duo collaborated with several prominent Canadian artists such as Tegan and Sara, as well as international stars like David Guetta, Madonna, Coldplay. The 2012 release of their anthemic single "Walls" featuring Quilla vaulted them on tour across the globe with stops at Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland, Mysteryland, and a residency at the Wynn in Las Vegas.
In 2016, the duo received the SOCAN Music Award for International Song of the Year for “Bad”, the multi-platinum single which they co-wrote and produced alongside David Guetta. Their remix of Bruno Mars’s “Locked Out Of Heaven” earned them a Grammy nomination in 2013. In the summer of 2017, Sultan and Ned reunited with singer Nadia Ali to release the folk-inspired dance anthem "Almost Home" also featuring NYC based songwriter Iro. Almost Home went to #1 on the Billboard Dance Charts and was nominated for a Juno Award for Best Dance Recording. In the fall of 2019, they released their debut double album “Echoes of Life” through Armada Music, featuring collaborations with Nadia Ali, Tritonal, Bahari, and more. Showcasing both the melodic club songs that they have become known for as well as a return to their deep house and progressive roots, their collaboration “We Found Love” with Showtek was also nominated for a Juno Award the following year.
2020 marked a new chapter for Sultan + Shepard, giving way to the rebirth of Sultan + Shepard’s melodic and progressive house sound. The duo signed to Lane 8’s label This Never Happened and released 3 EPs on the imprint that same year. 2021 saw the release of the label’s first full length album “Forever, Now”, quickly becoming a staple among melodic-house fans across the globe. Serving as the heavily anticipated follow-up to “Something, Everything”, the duo’s 2023 album “Forever, Now” quickly surpassed streaming targets and was paired with a North American tour, selling out the majority of its dates and garnering unprecedented demand from fans for prospective shows across the globe.
As the accolades continue to pile up, you can be sure Sultan + Shepard will settle in as tried and true house music innovators and favorites.
